During the holidays, it’s easy to get carried away with spending. Society pushes us to buy as much as possible to give to our family and friends, and truth be told, for many of us, shopping is FUN! Until we get the bills. This reversed card comes up today as a double warning: 1) to be careful with our spending, and 2) to extricate ourselves from the trap of materialism, which involves obsessing about “stuff” and thinking that somehow acquiring more of it will improve life. Try redirecting your thoughts from physical “things” to the people you love and your relationships with them. Time spent with them is priceless. Invest your money in that time. Shared experiences such as travel, going to shows, even dining in a fine restaurant will provide more joy, both to them and you, than any bauble or electronic gadget.
