The World, reversed

This card is from the Borderless edition of the Rider-Waite deck from 1909.

The World, reversed, suggests that something wonderful, perhaps a great creation or accomplishment, is hovering just outside your grasp. It’s been a long time in the making and it’s almost complete, but for some reason, the energy isn’t quite there to manifest it in your life. Why is that? It’s time to go inward and ask yourself what’s holding you back. Is it self-doubt? Self-sabotage? Fear of failure? Or has the process been such a struggle that you’ve faltered near the end, like an exhausted marathon runner encountering Heartbreak Hill? This card comes up today to remind you of the beautiful prize that awaits if you can get your head together and re-focus. Often we run into a mental block right before we’re about to break through and reach a higher level. It’s as if we subconsciously realize our lives will change drastically once we reach that level, and we stop ourselves. Even though it’s positive change, we humans tend to be reluctant to embrace change of any sort. We still have primitive reactions - we fear change because it might bring danger. We know we’re uncomfortable and unhappy in our present situation, but we prefer that to the unknown. This is everyone’s challenge when we engage actively in our own personal development.. We have to overcome our doubts and face the new future, and that takes courage. This card is an assurance that you are on the right track and as you step forward into the next level of your advancement, you’ll be safe and protected. So go for it!
