Five of Wands, reversed

This card is from the Rider-Waite deck, borderless edition.

This card is from the Rider-Waite deck, borderless edition.

The Five of Wands depicts five youths battling each other with large sticks. The wands, which symbolize passion, creative energy, and fertile new growth, are here turned into heavy weapons which can cause harm. Are the boys engaging in enthusiastic horseplay, or are they angry and actually trying to hurt each other? This card indicates that you’re facing a conflict based on differing creative ideas or on a subject which arouses strong passions. The card’s reversal in this reading suggests that you would benefit from turning the intensity down a few notches, or even extracting yourself from the fray completely. Honest, healthy disagreements are fine, but this one looks like it’s generating all heat and no light. A key person involved isn’t really interested in listening to opposing views, only in stirring the pot - driving the dispute in order to have an occasion to vent and get attention. (This person could be you! Examine your motives carefully!) There is great potential for productive teamwork if you can put the bickering in the past, find common ground, restore relationships, and move on.
